hello children and parents this is Elizabeth Woodall and I wanted to talk to a few of you you may have been very successfully logging on to the i-Ready and IX programs through the school district but for some of y'all just wanted to remind you you seem to be having trouble knowing show you how it looks so when you go to login make sure you type in South Pike. Org and when you come to the School website student resources and this page of student resources comes up it is through here that you will see that I already and I excel at 4 I will be assigning lessons that go along with the activities that were doing and skills were practicing so hard to get into i-Ready click on the icon I ready and when you do your child will be able to log on using their username and password which every child should know it's their first name. Your second name last name and for one exception that's it and then you are password is equals 1 I am logged in under one of my students names and once you are here for math your child will choose the math activities which is a path that is designed to move them wherever they are an academic progress some kids are nice progress some kids are working on much lower skill levels like first grade early second on this side with the teacher assigned lessons practicing the skills that I am teaching for instance today it's on measurement and the skills that the students will attract that will be here my progress encouraging parents to click on this link right here where it will take you to a little mini tutorial of what you can see and when I went to go look at student resources you could have come and pick I excel when I excel your student wall so has your child also has a login which is their first name last name with Father number 32 Eagles won when they suggested skills by their teacher and that's a good one. I've highlighted this feels that there that your child would work on for that week in this case will be measured in data but they can work on many other things that can work on math language arts science and social studies that they are supposed to teach will have these white on these yellow bars and those would be practicing the skill this week and happens to be on S and S is measurement and data it anyway thank you for your time make sure your child is logging one for this extra practice thank U virtual summer school Misty I'll be coming to you wait wait for the next four weeks for the lesson 2 review and prepare you for the coming 2020 school year I hope you all are having a wonderful time of it that I hope you'll take a little time to spend reviewing and getting ready for the next School so in order to do the lesson we're going to do today you're going to need to get your ready math and I'm going to pause right now if you will go find your ready math book when we come back we're going to be on lessons 1 most of you will be on page 204 some of you will be on page 198 but you'll be looking for the alligator where it says less than 21 I'm going to pause now while you go get your book okay we're back in less than 21 are reviewing adding and subtracting the measurement number 5 and number 6 addition and subtraction problems involving length now that we have a picture of an alligator and a story the length of two alligators body is 32 in the tail of the alligator is 6 in shorter how long is The Tail they show us a picture of the alligator and they asked us to remember what important information we got from the story the length of the alligators they're showing us this from the nose to the back of the body they told us it was 32 in the tale alligator is 6 inches shorter than the body so let us think first what is the length of the alligator body kits 32 in what is the length of the tail well it's six inches shorter than this 32in but they didn't tell us what that would be we're going to have to do a problem to pay what's the length of the tail is can you think you're going to add or subtract to find the length of the tail well since it shorter than the body we're going to subtract because subtracting will give us a smaller number in order to solve this problem we're going to subtract can write that in catnip that letter V in your book if you're following along with me no it's bad what equation could we use to find the names of the body I mean to tell well the information they gather to tell is 6 inches shorter then this 32 we can use the number bond which is where that operations and I they can came in that we've learned we're going to take the body and take away 6 in order to find how many inches long is a Toyota I like to make the 10 do you remember that strategy authority to take away to make the next ten 6 up into what four so now we take away four from the 30 and we're at 26 does tale of that alligator inches steps to solve this problem we had to subtract using measurement in this lesson be learning how to add answer let's say they asked us what is the total length of the alligator in body what would we do if we wanted to find the total length that would include the tail and first part of the alligator it's right we're going to add in this case we take the tail plus the front of the alligators body and if we put the kale and the head together we'll end up with a total your equation would look like this does it regroup know if you add 1/6 ones and two ones only there's no need to regroup add the 10th to the 10th and answer is 58 do not forget in measurement to include your unit of measure so the total length of alligators body would have been 58 in boys and girls I hope you'll go on IXL I ready and use your ready materials to study and practice lesson 21 add and subtract length see you next week
