main idea 3.2 finding main ideas and key details are important vocabulary words or main idea key details and support remember identifying the main idea helps reader find the most important information during reading this will help you to better understand what you are reading and help you with your comprehension skills man Nadia is a very important skill so we're going to look at a PowerPoint now on topics and main ideas finding topics and main ideas what is the topic a topic is the word or phrase everything in a text refers back to can you find the topic of the pictures can you find the topic Elsa pictures dish read the following paragraph the topic of this paragraph is water use notice when they use the word it appears they are referring to water topic is water look for repeated words in the last paragraph the word water was repeated again and again looking for repeated words and phrases is a good way to find can you find the topic pause the video and read the paragraph Colonial Williamsburg Williamsburg in Williamsburg the topic was Williamsburg we can tell this because the word Williamsburg was repeated several times the song paragraphs are tricky sometimes author use
